I had lots of fun at Washington Park Arboretum with this spunky two year old and her sweet family. She played in the grass, ran to everyone for hugs, and just did her own thing (as two year olds do). Such a great time!

I was so happy to meet this sweet little family on a beautiful evening at Carkeek Park. I don’t do a whole lot of maternity sessions (I don’t know why), so it was a lot of fun to document this family, including the cute belly!

Congrats to you all on your growing family!

SammieB - I’m with you Hannah….I rarely shoot sessions outside of weddings and engagements, so it’s always so much fun to break outside of the box and shoot something new. You’re work is beautiful and this family is just adorable!ReplyCancel

When Amber contacted me to photograph her family I was so excited and honored! Amber is a photographer too, so being chosen is, for me, a big deal. I had a great time at Golden Gardens with her and her husband, Wes, and son, Jonathan. It was honestly one of the easiest sessions I’ve ever had! (And with a photographer’s kid it can really go either way! Haha!) Jonathan was so sweet and silly. I really enjoyed spending time with the whole family.

Thank you, Amber, for trusting me to document your family…and Jonathan’s awesome toothless grin!

Stories in Seven is a blog circle made up of documentary family photographers who have committed to telling a story in 7 images on the 7th of each month. This is the story of my little kitchen helper.

Lately Little Man has been obsessed with helping in the kitchen. He likes to wash fruits and veggies, stir things, pour things, just play with utensils in the water while I cook…This particular morning I was feeling especially ambitious and decide we’d make a blueberry cake. Most of the process I couldn’t shoot because I had to actually help him help me…but I did capture some of his playing. Playing in the kitchen is serious business. And for the record, the cake was delicious and he refused to eat a bite. Toddlers…

Amy Jay Photo - I love the little, chubby toddler hand in the bowl of blueberries. Also, don’t you know by now that the more work you put into something, the LESS likely they are to eat it?? 😉ReplyCancel

Hannah - Why is that SO SO TRUE?!??!?! He was so excited about it too. He kept saying “Cake! Cake!” Not one single bite. HA!ReplyCancel

This month I’ve joined two new blog circles. The first, Documenting Our Days, started last week with posts about breakfast time. This one, In These Moments, is focusing on “play” this month! Bennett has always always loved the water. Never a fear in the bath tub or swimming pool. No problem sticking his face in the water, blowing bubbles, dumping water on his head. The hose is hands down his favorite toy. He would water the whole city if he could. That’s why I chose to document our backyard play time for this session. I sure adore this little boy.
