It took a long time to make this session happen, but I’m so glad we waited! What a beautiful day we got to work with! This is just a little sneak peek since I’m holding back all of the family shots for Christmas cards. Happy Holidays!
Sometimes I struggle with the words to tell you about the families I spend my days with. This is one of those times. Sometimes I can see so much personality and silliness and love in the images that it doesn’t make sense to try to put those things into paragraphs. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, right? I chose to tell this story in entirely black and white. Something about the time of year calls for it, I think. But I love how much more obvious connections and interactions become without distractions. I loved spending the day with this family!
You may recognize this sweet family from their Spring session this year. Except Little Man is much bigger, much busier and MUCH faster! I got a good workout chasing him up and down the trail! He was full of smiles and personality. So stinking cute. Thanks, Hermrecks, for trusting me with your family photos again!
5 on 5 is a blog circle made up of documentary family photographers who have committed to telling a story in 5 images on the 5th of each month. This is the story of trick or treating. Last year Bennett was a little too small to really understand. This year he was full of excitement. After every stop he said, “Are we gonna do more trick or treats?” while he inspected what he got. I should also mention that this was his first year choosing his own Halloween costume. When he saw himself in the mirror he said, “I’m a rainbow butterfly!!” in complete awe. I will make his Halloween costume every year until the end of time if that’s his reaction. Holidays are going to be fun this year!
Aaaand he’s done… (proof I was there)
Be sure to follow the 5 on 5 circle to see the other photographers’ November storytelling! You can start by visiting Stephanie Woodward – Utah documentary photographer for some warm weather magic that will make you nostalgic for summertime already!
You are one talented momma! Gorgeous color on these photos!
I love all of the details you photographed – the hand in the second picture and the last photo of you comforting him. What a great set!
A great friend connected me with this sweet family. Great people know great people (thanks Emilie!). These kids were FULL of giggles and playfulness. I love sessions like this. Fun and smiles and a reminder that life isn’t as serious as we sometimes think it is. I hope these images give you some smiles too. Happy Friday!
