I try to go into every session with an open mind and no expectations of what kind of images I’ll create or what kind of moments the family will share with me. But sometimes something happens in the planning process and I start to think things will go a certain way. To say that this family has been through a lot recently is the understatement of the year. And a conversation with the mama put me in a certain head space about what we’d be able to accomplish. And then the time came. This sweet family showed up and reminded me that these aren’t my stories to tell. Each family has their own relationships and personalities and backgrounds. And they get to decide what they want to share with me. This session had me almost in tears a couple of times. There was so much love and beauty exchanged between these four. Thank you, Fleckensteins, for sharing your hearts with me. I hope you love your images as much as I do!

Time goes so fast, doesn’t it? It seems like two seconds ago that I was shooting Sara’s engagement images. Now here she is, calm and content, as the mama of a two and a half year old. And suddenly, Kalina is more kid than toddler. I’m so so happy to get to repeatedly document this relationship. I hope I’m shooting Kalina’s senior pictures one day.

Also, kids are weird. I say that with love.

It’s so much fun going through and editing all of these sessions. Every single family has different personalities, dynamics, and relationships…and every last one is so incredibly beautiful. Thank you Brooke and family for trusting me with your first family photos!! It was an honor.

I just love repeat clients so much! I mean obviously it’s a great thing when someone wants to work with you again. But more than that, I love how easy it is to just jump right into that comfortable spot. Even with a preschool aged kiddo, I find that the warming up period is so much shorter! This session was no exception. From snuggling with dad to giggling and playing in no time flat.

I love my work so much. How lucky am I that I get to spend my days with families, making them smile and interact and show their love for one another. Best. Job. Ever. Thank you, Mia, Mike and Mikaela, for repeatedly putting a smile on my face. I love working with your family!

You probably recognize three of these four faces…You’ve seen them in both a Day in the Life and a Lifestyle session in the past. But it’s been months since we’ve been able to get together (as you can tell from the size of the sweet baby that didn’t exist yet last time I saw them)! Aleks and Julio, it’s always a pleasure to see you interact with your little (now littleS)! Thank you for having me document your family as it grows.

I’ve been in a black and white phase lately, so the whole portion of this session I’m sharing is in black and white. Don’t worry Aleks, you’ll get some color in your full gallery, I promise.
