I spent a beautiful winter morning photographing this sweet, busy family in Seattle a few weeks ago. What a blast! Not only do they have twin 9 year old girls who were adopted several years ago, but they recently adopted an almost two year old boy…AND they have an older dog, a puppy, a cat, fish and frogs! At one point someone mentioned getting the duck and one of the girls turned to me and said, “Don’t worry. It’s not a real duck!” Ha! After awhile the grandparents joined us with their puppy as well. I was honored to spend some time shooting this Red Thread Session during the holiday season when we’re reminded anyway of how important family is. What a lucky little boy to be brought into this house full of fun, laughter and love! And what a blessing he is to his family as well. Thanks for inviting me into your home Kamath family! And Happy Holidays!

Calgary wedding photographer - So gorgeous! I love following all your work. You are such a talented Seattle family photographer!ReplyCancel

I’m a sucker for storytelling, so I always have a horrible time narrowing down the photos for a blog post. Weddings are a big problem. I really want you to see the beauty of the entire day…without taking up your entire day! This wedding in particular gave me trouble. So much story to tell, but only so much space to tell it in. So I apologize in advance for too many images (and Joy and Dustin, know there are so many more that tell the rest of the story!).

Joy and Dustin have been together for 10 years (since high school!!) and they’re one of those couples who you have no doubt in your mind are better together than apart. Joy seemed a little bit nervous and overwhelmed…until the first look. Once they were together again, I could visibly see her relax. What a great feeling, to be okay the second you see your husband-to-be! I enjoyed every minute I got to spend with these two (and their crew!). The sky threatened rain all day, but we were lucky to get some stunning Fall color (Joy and Dustin’s favorite season, as well as mine!) and the rain never caught us.

It was an honor to photograph your wedding, Joy and Dustin! And I feel lucky to now call you friends.

I don’t know what to say about this family. Except that they are incredibly beautiful inside and out, particularly in the way that they interact with each other. Three year old Max is so sweet with his one month old brother, Daniel, and Mom and Dad protect and nurture that relationship already. The whole family is full of gentle touches, soft words and a love for one another that is so clearly visible to me, even as an outsider. I was honored to spend the morning with their little family  adventuring and exploring Discovery Park in North Seattle. There is just a sort of peacefulness to the way this family works…which amazes me considering they have a newborn and a three year old boy!  Thank you for inviting me into your family, Prescotts! I had a great time with you all.

*I apologize in advance for sharing WAY too many images. I just couldn’t control myself.*

Three years ago today I was finishing up packing for our honeymoon in Italy. We were leaving early the next morning and I was not really ready yet. Then I got a phone call that the baby girl I was waiting to meet was on her way! She waited pretty much until the last possible minute that I could’ve made it to see her before I left. And I was lucky enough to document the moments when she met her big sister for the first time.

Today McKenna is 3 years old! What a joyful little girl. She is sweet and silly and loud and I just adore her.

Some of Kenna’s favorite things are walking her dog, riding around on her ladybug, playing around her house, eating cake (duh), and playing on the ipad. Those things capture part of what it is for her to be 3, so that’s what I photographed. Such a fun time with such a busy little girl!

Happy birthday, McKenna!

These two gorgeous mamas are friends of ours (even more so now that we’ve had our baby boys!), so I was especially honored to be invited to spend the morning with them…the very early morning…the still dark outside kind of morning…you  know, the normal time us mamas wake up! Day in the Life sessions fuel my fire. Being able to photograph families in their homes just doing what they do is always amazing. What struck me about this particular shoot was the hands…all of the hands. Every time they were near, both Michelle and Casey were rubbing their sweet boy’s head, holding his hand, touching his face. There were so many hands during daily tasks (bath, getting dressed, etc.), both mamas helping with everything. It was so cool to watch them interact with him. So much nurturing!! I’m a total mush ball, I know, but two moms must be pretty awesome! It looks like this sleepy boy thinks so anyway!
